My name is Matthew Mazur and I write my letter to You from Poland. Two weeks ago I discovered my lost family on the website of Ancestry.com in USA.

I found my great-grandmother's sister - Kunegunda (Konegoda) Wozniak and her husband - Thomas (Tomasz) Wozniak, their daughter - Mary (Maria) Wozniak and two sons - Walter (Wacław) and Stanley (Stanisław) Wozniak. They appeared in The United States Federal Census in 1920. The city they are mentioned is Erie, New York. Most probably they arrived from Poland to Erie at first. After 1920 they had to move to Buffalo because the last information we received from Walter Wozniak from address:

36 Gittere Street Buffalo II. N.Y. USA

in 1947/8 (Walter wrote two letters in the name of his mother). Kunegunda’s maiden name was Sieron (polish-Sieroń) and she came from Krynki (near Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski) in Poland. My great-grandmothers name was Marianna Sieroń. Marianna was Kunegunda’s own sister. I have been searching my family in Buffalo so many years with no result. The first step to search Wozniak Family in USA did my father in eighties and he came into contact with unknown Stanley Wozniak from New York. Unfortunately that Stanley wasn’t Kunegunda’s son. My friend Gregory Ossolinski (in Poland) suggested me to look for the name of Wozniak in The New York Phone Directory. It was good idea because I localized about twenty people with Wozniak surname in Buffalo. I decided to write the same letter to all of them. (a list of the names with phone numbers included). As I know Walter (Wacław) Wozniak was born in 1914, he married to Sophie (Zofia) about 1945. I have five dates of unknown Wozniak’s death based on The US Federal Census.

I don’t really know if he was Kunegunda’s son. I have three dates of unknown Sophie’s (Wozniak) death as well.

Here is the same problem because I don’t know if she was Walter’s (Wozniak) wife!

Walter had one brother – Stanley (Stanisław). Stanley was born about 1915 and his wedding was about 1946. I don’t know Stanley’s wife name because Walter didn’t mention about her name in his letters. Walter’s sister – Mary was born about 1917/18 and her wedding was about 1936. I know that Mary had two children in 1947.

1. Earlene - born about 1938.
2. Dennis - born in 1942.

Besides Walter wrote to my Grandparents about:

Thomas Wozniak birthday – 28th of December
Thomas Wozniak name day – 2nd of December
Kunegunda’s birthday – 18th of February
Kunegunda’s name day – 3rd of March

The next sister of Walter was Ann (Anna) Wozniak. She was born about 1925. In 1947 she started her work as a teacher in school about 25 miles from Buffalo. In 1947 she was single and she lived with her mother – Kunegunda in the same house. Kunegunda Wozniak died 4th of December 1947. The last letter was sanded to Poland in 1948 (March 14). Unfortunately this is all my knowledge I have about my relatives (Wozniak) in USA. Additional episode told me my father who mentioned that Walter Wozniak (or Stanley) was with American Army in Berlin during Second World War in 1945. As an American Soldier he couldn’t visit Poland to meet my family in Szewna (near Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski too). I would like you to answer my question about your kinship with my family described above. I’m sure You have a lot of relatives with Wozniak surname who know history about your and maybe my family. Could You ask them, please? Would You maybe try to help me in my search? However it is I’m looking forward to Your answer
